terratectonics

I have to work on this title a bit. But here are some images of my first CNC milling adventure. Cast porcelain. Terra Sigillata.

Breathing Exercise

The original model was generated from a terrain map of Burnt Canyon, Utah in Rhinoceros 3D. Much of the terrain information was lost, or translated through the material process of making the original model, however I feel that it has evolved into something much more personal. The title suggests an implication of the viewer's presence. It is an invitation for the viewer to physically, and actively participate in the piece. The casts are inverses of each other, therefore representing breathing rhythm-- an inhale, exhale, inhale and exhale. This is yet another meditation. Yet another experiment/study in this series of attempts to implicate the viewer as an active participant of the making process.
